Mindful Memory Keeping

Inspired living through mindfulness, creativity, and by embracing vulnerability

Make Your Own Baby Book

Make Your Own Baby Book | Mindful Memory Keeping

There was a wonderful new addition to our family earlier this year. My cousin, who is like a little brother to me, and his wife, welcomed their first little girl into the world in January. I wanted to make them a baby book and a few weeks ago I was in Joann’s and came across the Simple Stories Snap Collection Baby Girl. I knew I had to use it and could quickly make the new parents a super cute baby book by putting some pocket page cards into a pocket page album.

The Simple Stories Binder is a 6×8 size which is big enough for a good number of pictures but not so big that the album is overwhelming. The pocket pages are easy for adding photos and the cards are a perfect place to add your own journaling and to record your memories as your baby grows.

On May 5th, National Scrapbooking Day, I went to a weekend crop and I focused on this project. I had already created the spine label and title page. So I started by laying out the pocket pages. The album comes with 10 pocket pages, 3 chipboard dividers and eight 6×8 papers with matching prints. I ordered two additional packs of pocket pages.

The plain chipboard pages were a boring brown so I used pink patterned paper and trimmed it to match the chipboard using my Fiskars knife.

I placed the cards in order using the month by month cards, interspersed with the other more decorative cards. Collection packs of 3×4 cards and 4×6 cards are super easy to put together since they’re all color coordinated. To spruce it up a bit I added some sticker embellishments from MAMBI and Simple Stories onto the cards and 6×8 papers.

This baby book came together so quickly I didn’t even take enough pictures of the process or the finished product. I need to be more mindful of that next time around.

I put some of my favorite pictures of the new parents with their new little one into the first few photo spots. Wrapped it with a bow and done! A great little new mommy gift for Mother’s Day. This baby book has lots of space to fill with pictures and words as their girl grows through her first year and since its a 3-ring she can move things around if she wants too.

The ease of this project has really inspired me to get working on my own daughters’ books. I was already planning on using the pocket page style and even have the album, pocket pages and cards all ready to go. I’m setting a goal to get at least one baby book done for one of my girls by the end of the year!

Thank you for visiting. I am grateful that you spent a moment with me today.

Thanks Sarah! It was super quick and easy to put together. I’m hoping I can finish one for one of my girls this year. =)
